No shade, but I have an MFA in screenwriting from Columbia and I learned more about pilot writing from Julia in just a few HOURS than I did in my TV writing class at school (that cost me bazillions of dollars in student loans). Who is Julia?
Julia Meltzer is a screenwriter and screenwriting teacher and coach. Her original pilot YOURS, MINE & PAUL'S sold to 20th Century Fox Television in a competitive situation, and later to ABC with Sarah Hyland attached to star and Ty Burrell producing. Her next pilot, MARRIED WITH FRIENDS, sold in the room to CBS. She also writes feature films but that's a whole other thing!! Before becoming a professional screenwriter she was a development assistant for four years, and it was the greatest job in the world and she read SO MANY TV COMEDY PILOTS. She knows how the durn things work.
Since 2023 she has taught pilot writing to aspiring and professional screenwriters privately and through The Upright Citizen's Brigade Training Center. She is excited to make her expertise available with more flexibility and at a more accessible price point.
